Constitution
Preamble
The Purpose of Significant Ambitions Leadership club is to make a difference in non-profit organizations of the Antelope Valley. Through local fund raising, promoting, and volunteering, members will leave an impact for a better tomorrow.
We, as students of Antelope Valley College, do hereby declare this constitution and these bylaws, and assume the powers and responsibilities of self government delegated to us by the Executive Board of the Associated Students, the president of the Antelope Valley College, and the Board of Trustees of the Antelope Valley Community College.
Article I
Name
The name of this club shall be Significant Ambitions. This name has been chosen for reflecting the great works this leadership club stands and works for.
Article II
Membership Requirements
· Attendance:
a) Members need to inform Officers of planned absences the meeting before they occur.
b) After meetings have started, all members should stay on subject concurrent with agenda topic.
c) Members should ask for “point of personal privilege” before leaving meetings early.
· Active Vs. Non active membership:
a) There will be no option for non-active membership. All members will be active through group meetings, promotional events, and/ or fund raising.
· Meeting procedures:
a) The president calls the meeting to order
b) All meetings are conducted based on Roberts Rules.
· Meeting Style:
a) The agenda is to be used properly. Members need stay within agenda topic before moving on,
b) All major decisions are based through member vote,
c) Open discussion is approved but within the limit of current agenda topic.
· Applications:
a) All Applications shall be reviewed before acceptance into the club.
b) When Advisors accept an application, the new member has to attend the next meeting to confirm their new membership.
c) Applications for new members who have missed confirmation of membership will be given one week to attend next Club meeting.
· GPA Requirements:
a) All members are to have at the minimum, a 2.0 GPA average.
· Promoting club:
a) The majority of all promotional activities are to be held within Campus grounds
b) If there is a need for a promotional event off campus, an approval has to be taken from the Faculty Advisor and Events Coordinator.
· Active participation:
a) All members are encouraged to actively participate at all events and meetings.
· Personal Conduct:
a) All members are to be held accountable through the student code of conduct and through club standards.
b) Significant Ambitions expects its members to have integrity, good ethics, and high morale.
c) If mischievous, immoral, or deceitful actions are taken within any part of Significant Ambitions, club officers will take actions regarding disciplinary action.
Article III
Dues
Upon receiving funds from fund raising dues, members will be deducted to cover registration fees.
· Point System:
a) Monetary value shall be measured through a point system.
b) Five dollars is equivalent to one point. Maximum amount is thirty dollars, which is equivalent to six points.
c) Five point goals shall be used for members to keep a stable amount of money for club support.
· Member Goals:
a) Each member is given an assigned goal per month for reaching club needs based on growth, fund raising, volunteering, event coordinating, and promoting.
· Fundraisers:
a) All Fundraisers and fundraiser ideas are to be openly discussed in club meetings.
b) All creative ideas are strongly encouraged in these discussions.
· Financial Efficiency:
a) To keep members from using their own funds, fundraisers, grants, donations, and sponsorships shall be actively and continually used through the semester to support its members.
Article IV
Officers
v Faculty Advisor:
§ One responsible for having official meetings
§ Advises events, fundraising, and ideas.
§ Overseer of all Club activities
§ Club counselor for inter club difficulties
§ College representative
§ Club promoter and supporter
§ Is an Instructor committed to helping club’s needs
§ Approves money withdrawals
§ Approves all events
§ Responsible for holding/recording all member’s club documents and keeping such information private
v President:
§ Responsible for attending all meetings.
§ Creates agenda for all meetings.
§ Is committed and has ambition to lead the group.
§ Is the proper officer for inquiring information about the group.
§ Can add new bylaws that will better group through member vote and discussion.
§ Approves and appoints the leader of each subgroup.
§ Carries Constitution to all meetings and events.
v Vice President:
§ Substitute the president when unavailable during meetings
§ May create and approve events.
§ Approves new members into club.
§ Remains the president’s equal in authority.
v Secretary:
§ In charge of writing meeting minutes.
§ Receiving and filing paperwork.
§ Attending all meetings.
§ Secretary also coordinates meetings through using group agendas.
§ Takes role during campus meetings.
§ Is given forms for those attending meetings
v Assistant Secretary:
§ Responsible for checking club emails.
§ Receiving online applications.
§ Publishing meeting minutes
§ Representing the secretary when needed in events and meetings.
v Treasurer:
§ Responsible for checking club balance.
§ Responsible for approving all check dispersals and requests.
§ Depositor of all incoming funds
§ Handles all club finances
v Vice Treasurer:
§ In charge of creating "fund-raiser" documents.
§ Records all financial information for yearly audits.
§ Works with president for finding sponsors off campus for fund-raiser events.
v Librarian:
§ Stores and manages files and blank documents for future use.
§ Carries Club Constitution.
§ Responsible for managing memberships.
v Events Coordinator:
§ Keeps updated information about new and upcoming events on and off campus.
§ Uses group Google calendar for uploading info online.
§ Keeps group online and in meetings informed about events.
§ Creates Events sign-up sheets.
§ Decides which events will be foreseen.
§ Approves events and facilities request.
v Photographer:
§ Responsible for taking photos of New Officers for posting online.
§ Attends events for taking snapshots of group activities.
§ Not required to attend meetings.
§ There may be more than one Photographer.
v Web Technician:
§ Edits, Updates, and Manages all web pages for Significant Ambitions Online
§ Works with Photographer, Events Coordinator, and Group Researcher.
Article VI
Elections
v Officer Terms:
§ All positions are valid for one year.
§ All Faculty Advisors are immune to the voting cycle
§ New positions are done by club vote.
§ To become a presidential candidate, one semesters of club experience is required.
§ Voting takes place online every spring on Club Website.
§ Voting durations shall be no less than one day.
§ Voting durations shall be no more than two weeks.
